Deuteronomy 8:18
But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.
It is tempting to get caught in the race to become wealthy and successful – and to grow prideful when you seem to acquire riches.
Do you know people who take pride in their work and believe they have earned every penny by their own hard work? Many people feel this way. However, as believers, we know that if we gain riches, it is only because God has given us the ability to gain riches.
When we understand everything we've made comes from him, it makes a difference how we spend our money and how we live our lives.
MORNING PRAYER;
Dear God, there have been times I have been prideful and taken credit when I should have given you the glory. It is only because of you that I have the ability to succeed. All my gifts come from you. Help me to remember to praise the one who gives and takes away rather than praising myself. Help me to live a life that honors you. Give me opportunities to use my earthly riches to bring glory to your name and draw others to you. In Jesus' name, amen.
